The Bi-Fold, or hi-loft, futon mattresses are suitable for use on bed frames, 3 seater bi-fold or 'bench' style bases. They are 8-layer futon mattresses, comprising layers of cotton, woolfelt and a central polyester core, and are suitable for regular use as a bed / seat. If you intend to put your bi-fold mattress to everyday use we would recommend adding an extra layer of foam to the centre. You should note that extra felt layers or a foam layer will make the futon very difficult to fold when it is new, and as such it should not be used for any tri-fold style bases
